Angelo Grose WR/CB from Mansfield Senior is a football and track athlete who uses his quickness and burst on the basketball court, as well. Last night I was impressed with his speed and tough defense.
Seems like Angelo has been around forever on the football field. Playing both wide receiver and corner, he is only a junior. His 5’9 height is of some concern to college recruiters, but he is long. Better yet, he is tough. Better yet, he has speed and burst.
Football skills – He can back pedal and recovers well. Solid hips, but can always improve. Excellent range. Faster when football is in the air. Reads and reacts to the ball. Anticipates well. Can turn and run with the receiver. Good speed on his blitz efforts.
Angelo is a physical player. This is evident on the basketball court. Last night he played tough and aggressive in man defense. Good tackler, but needs to tackle higher at times.
To his credit, last year during track season, he long jumped over 23 feet. Also had a 6’7 high jump effort. Speed/toughness to be the anchor on the relay teams. Just a sophomore then.
College recruiters will be coming back in January to spend more time evaluating Angelo. Some concern about height, but he can run and has a burst. Needs to be a camp guy this June. A successful track season would really help get his name out there.
Angelo is definitely one to watch in the Ohio Class of 2020. Not sure what side of the ball I would rate him. Can play both. More of wait and see. Too much natural speed to over look and, of course, he has that Mansfield Senior toughness.
