Isaiah Gibson – 2019 – An MSR top D-Lineman

Springfield High School players have always been fun and enjoyable to talk with. Much was the case last night, as I watched Fairmont play Springfield. Good athletes on both teams.

Coach Mo Douglass was at the game and introduced some of his players to me. I have known Coach for along time, and he does well at promoting his players.

Isaiah Gibson

I went to watch DL Isaiah Gibson (2019) run up and down the court. Listed at 6’4-265, he runs the court well. Good hands. Finds open man. Like his toughness. Liked his leadership.

On the football field, he was unstoppable at times from his 3tech position. Good initial quickness. Excellent gap tech. Neutralizes one on one block. Needs to do a better job of getting off blocks. Good pass rush tech. Needs to rush under more control at times.

Like most players, Isaiah needs to keep getting stronger and improve his hands to gain separation. Needs to build endurance.

A starter as a 10th grader, he should be one of the most recruited players in his class. Guessin 6’4 and long. Will be a top MSR DL in Class of 2019. Really like his attitude both on and off field. Plays with emotion. Almost too much at times.

Also wanted to see slot receiver Michael Brown-Stephens. Just coming off an injury, he was not suited up, but I talked with him. A little bigger than I thought. Guessin 5’11-175.

Mike Brown Stephens
WR – 2019

Last fall, I really liked his toughness and ability to run after getting hit. Liked his balance. Really showed some athleticism. Good ball catcher and ran well after the catch. Guessin 4’5 speed with excellent initial quickness.

Should be a really good prospect this fall. One to watch. I believe that he is a high recruit, because he could play on both sides of the ball. Has that athleticism and, most important – that toughness.

Sophomore TayVeon Smoot played junior varsity. Maybe 5’11, but guessin 225. Really like him as a true fullback, because he was soooo powerful last fall. Ran over defenders.

WR Larry Stephens (2020) ran the court well last night. Good athlete, with some burst. Excellent receiver. Fast after the catch. Will be a top recruit after next fall.

Met RB Jeffery Tolliver, another sophomore. Will need to get bigger/stronger/faster,  but is a natural runner. Lack of height may hurt him some. Has the toughness.

FS Moses Douglass (2019) was every place last night. Taking pictures and working with a lap top, but he was having fun. Talked with him for minute. Much bigger/stronger over the winter. Getting faster is a necessity for Moses. Smart, but must improve burst and speed. I understand, Moses has a lot of offers.

Always enjoy my time with the Springfield football players. +
