Jeremiah Burton recently committed to Ohio University. The Bobcats want him to play a 3 technique defensive lineman.
The first time I watched Jeremiah he was just entering his freshman year at Westerville North High School. He was big, maybe too big at the time. 6’1-300+. Too big. But he could move.
Under the direction of D1’s Charles Gresham, Jeremiah will begin his senior year at Reynoldsburg High School at 6’2-290. More quickness. More explosiveness. More energy. Last year he competed at the OHSAA State Track Meet in the shot. Best throw – 53’10.
His 10th grade year, he also played basketball. No more basketball, but more football and more track in the spring.
Actually, I was at the Ohio University summer camp this spring, when he looked really good in the individual drills and totally dominated in the 1on1 competition.
I like him on the DL, but could also see him as an inside offensive line guy. Excellent explosion. Powerful. Athletic. Believe that he gets off the ball better on the OL, but he cannot go wrong on either side.
Took me a while, but I like his “laid back” attitude. But he can play football. The commit to the Bobcats keeps him near Columbus, but far enough away to grow as person. Plus his parents are good people. I have known them for four years.
Some Big Ten schools were talking with him in the spring, but Ohio University was a natural fit to him. My two cents – excellent move.
The best to Jeremiah.
