With his performance at a camp last weekend in Indianapolis, QB Miles Fleming (2020) is starting to get more attention throughout the Midwest. At this camp he ran a 4.46/40. Almost as impressive was that he ran a 4.1/shuttle.
Miles, from Columbus Bishop Hartley, has started at quarterback the last two years. Athletic and fast. Tough – I watched him get hit time after time against Toledo Whitmer. I mean HIT. But he bounced back every time. He is a smart athlete, playing quarterback, but for me, on the next level, he needs to begin as a corner. Move to slot, if he is not a corner.
As a corner – good hips. Burst. Fast. Again, he is smart. Will have to get bigger/stronger, but needs to develop as a corner. Next position – slot. Again fast, burst, and speed. Good hands. Athletic.
I mentioned smarts with relationship to football. Carries a 3.6 GPA at Bishop Hartley. Taking the ACT in March. Really is into American History. Undecided on a major. Dad is a Dentist. Mom is a designer. Good parents. Miles has some “smarts” in the classroom, as well.
Runs track in the spring. Last year, he ran a 10.87/100m. Ran 21.9/200m. Ran legs on both the 4/100 relay and 4/200 relay.
Actually, I like Miles as a quarterback, but he does not have all of the QB skills to play D1A college football.
Speed and toughness impress me. Also shows explosiveness with his 37′ vertical and 9’6 broad jump. He has run 6.9/three cone, which show burst and redirection.
Miles is visiting Toledo today. Offers from Miami and Eastern Michigan. University of Michigan stays in contact. Miles can run fast. The college camps will be important to him. This will be his time to compete and be physical. If he competes, he will be fine.
I have had a few chances to watch Miles train at the D1 Sports Training Center, under Chuck Gresham. Class act, and he works really hard to get better. The best to him.
