For those of you who follow Ohio High School sports, there is a brand out there called OPSWA. The Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association. The group has been in existence for years, but now has taken the place of the Associated Press.

The Associated Press no longer is responsible for selecting post season honors for high school sports in Ohio.

The Associated Press is doing away with high school sports coverage across the nation. There no longer will be any AP polls, all-state teams or all district teams.

However, local media in Ohio are continuing to create all-district and All-Ohio teams on their own using all the same criteria. Only difference, the AP no longer has anything to do with it. Everything released will be at the discretion of that area’s media.

The OPSWA works with and under the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
