QB Michael Bittner (2019) has been on my radar since his sophomore year at Cincinnati Elder High School. Back then he was more a runner in the “wildcat offense.” Last Saturday, against the powerful Lakewood St Edwards, he was both a runner and passer.
In fact, he surprised me with his QB skills. Even last his junior year, he was more of a QB/runner and played some receiver. But this year as the starting quarterback at Elder he is turning heads, at least mine anyway.
Michael seems to have a complete understanding of the offensive passing schemes. Always looking downfield, he finds the open receiver. Can check down. Also knows where the 2nd and 3rd receivers are on the the field. With his escapability, he can extend plays.
He has good QB throwing skills. Like his release. Can throw the touch pass. Arm strength to throw the fade. When he sets his feet, he can spin-it over the middle. Also like his follow thru. Also an accurate passer.
Needs to keep getting bigger/stronger/faster. Runs okay, but needs to improve burst. Being a three sport athlete – basketball and baseball. He will need to find time to improve his overall strength and speed. But he really likes all three sports.
Actually saw him break some tackles. Like his physicality and his strength to shake tackles. My guess is that he is a better QB in pads than he is in shorts/t-shirt.
Have not had a chance to talk with him about recruiting for football. But he is getting a late start to show his total QB skills. Really believe that he has the tools. Guessin 6’1-200. But he needs to be more explosive. Does have an offer from Butler, which should be the start.
The better the Cincinnati Elder football does, the more benefits for Michael Bittner. Tons of potential. Looks like a baseball player. But starting to look more and more comfortable throwing a football.
