Walnut Ridge High School’s Qian Magwood took a big step forward this summer with an impressive showing at a Cincinnati football camp this past summer. I really like what I saw today at a scrimmage with Upper Arlington High School.
Guessin 5’11-165, he can play a number of positions on either side of the ball. Really like him as a corner. Good hips. Natural burst. Recovers well. Not sure, his best position may not be as a slot receiver. Excellent hands. Gets separation. Fast after the catch.
Qian needs to get much bigger/stronger. Already has the speed, but getting stronger will improve his speed. I watched him on the basketball court. A very quick point guard. As the PG, he penetrates and find the open receiver. Excellent vision.
The most impressive quality I see in him is his confidence. Not necessarily over confidence. Qian believes in himself and has that receiver/corner swagger. For him, it is a good thing.
Only a junior, he will be one of MSR’s top recruits in the Ohio Class of 2020. Already holds offers from Cincinnati and Marshall.
