Three Sport Bigs at Wayne Track Meet

A lot of really good athletes at the Wayne Invitational Track Meet Thursday night. Really impressed with some of the big offensive/defensive linemen. More impressive – two of the top DL recruits in the 2019 Class are three sport guys.

Steven Faucheaux

Steven Faucheaux plays defensive line for Lakota West High School. Guessin 6’5-265. Long, slender frame for a big guy. Can play either the 3 or the 5 technique. Long arms. Most schools are recruiting him as a defensive lineman. Tennessee and Penn State are two of the major schools. Steven also plays basketball in the winter. Going into last night, he had throws of 155′ in the discus and 48’in the shot put. Impressed with his length. Equally impressed with his thoughts on recruiting. Class Act.

Isaiah Gibson is a three sport athlete from Springfield HS. Guessin 6’3-265 . Big athlete with excellent quickness. Needs to get stronger, but his feet are good. 17 offers for football as a defensive line recruit. Really like the way he uses his hands. Like his toughness.Like his motor. One of the  top DL recruits in the Class of 2019. Watched him play basketball in the winter. Plays with a high motor on the basketball floor as well. Did not throw the discus last night, but will be throwing the shot tonight. Stay focused. Always good to chat with him. Isaiah’s potential is unlimited.

Adam Riedinger

One of the athletes who I wanted to see and meet was OL Adam Riedinger from Springfield Northwestern High School. Coming into this meet, Adam has a 57′ shot put and 157′ discus throw. Actually first saw him at the State Meet last spring. Plays basketball in the winter. A very solid offensive lineman. Good feet. Explosive. Stays with his blocks. Adam plays well in a smaller school program, but camps will be important to him this summer. Like his toughness, but college football coaches need to see that toughness.

I am sure there were more “bigs” who play three sports, but these three are three really good football recruits. In talking with all three, they seem to enjoy competition. None are going to the Olympics and none are going to play basketball at Duke. But all three will go to college for free and play football on a high level.
