In the last year, I have watched HUDL hi-lites of Todd, watched him compete in track, and watched him in a football camp last summer. Friday night, I saw him do his thing on the football field. He did well.
Todd Bumphis plays both WR and FS for the Toledo St Francis de Sales football team. Guessin 6’0-170. Runs well. Shows a burst. Explosive. Plays smart.
As a receiver, he has good initial quickness off the LOS. Needs to improve his route running. Speed to separate from the defender. Good hands. Runs well and is faster after the catch. Like his ability to make the big play.
Defensively, he plays free safety. Reads passing schemes. Plays well downhill. Reads keys and reacts to the ball. Speed to play sideline to sideline. Responsible for getting defensive backfield set and for getting the right calls. As a free safety, he needs to improve his tackling. Needs to stay off the ground.
The key for Todd is to have the ball in his hands. Good hips. Good vision. Speed and quickness to make the big play. Catches ball on the run. Needs to get bigger/stronger/faster.
Playing varsity basketball and going to the State Track Meet in the 4/100 and the 4/200 makes him a three sport varsity athlete. A 3.0GPA and 20 ACT score is really good. Todd will get it done.
Hearing from some Mid American Conference, along with Cincinnati.
Not only is Todd an excellent D1 football player who will play on the next level, he also a very good person. Class act. I am excited for him.
